NYC Elopement at Top of The Rock in Midtown

Vintage Elopement at Top of the Rock

Top of the Rock is one of the most iconic spots in New York City and is a stunning place to elope. Perched atop Rockefeller Center, Top of the Rock offers unparalleled views of the Manhattan skyline. As a NYC elopement photographer, I LOVE a rooftop elopement with city skyline views.

For Layla & JP’s stunning Top of The Rock elopement, we had way too much fun. If you want to feel like the main character, just wear a wedding dress at Top of The Rock! I shot a mix of film and digital at this elopement and I couldn’t be more obsessed with the photos.

NYC Top of the Rock Elopement

On a clear day, you can take in incredible city views. The night skyline is even more impressive with the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, and One World Trade Center standing tall against the twinkling lights. The best time of day to elope at Top of The Rock is actually at least 3 hours before sunset. While sunset can be beautiful, it can also be very crowded. I also recommend eloping on a Monday to avoid crowds!

As your New York City elopement photographer, I capture intimate and authentic shots of you and your partner taking in the view - enjoying those first few moments as a married couple. I aim to be your “fly on the wall,” leaving space for you two to be yourselves while offering light prompting and direction when needed. My signature editing style is bold, romantic, and true to color, with consistent luxurious tones. A little bit of grain, and a whole lot of detail.

How To Elope at Top of the Rock in NYC

If you want to elope at Top of the Rock - there is no permit!

Just buy the express pass on web for immediate entry, $92 with tax & fees.

Note: you will have to purchase a pass for everyone in your party, including you, your partner, your photo/video team, and your officiant. If you choose to have any loved ones accompany you, they will also need to purchase an express pass.

When we arrived at the Top of the Rock, everyone (including the staff at Top of The Rock) who saw the couple was lit up like Christmas! They were so excited and showered them in well wishes and compliments!

The Best Time of Day To Elope at Top of The Rock

While sunset is absolutely gorgeous, it is very crowded at that time of day. Instead, I suggest coming about 3 hours before sunset! To find the sunset time for the day you want to elope, you can simply google “sunset (insert date) in NYC.” You will want to come 3 hours before that time.

You can truly get beautiful photos at any time of day. Just be patient in shooting around people - but with lower crowds earlier in the day, it is much easier.

I also suggest eloping on a Monday or Tuesday, instead of a weekend. (This goes for pretty much any NYC elopement location. Crowds are way heavier on the weekend!)

I’m all for couples who have an incredibly unique style! Layla & JP went for an vintage aesthetic for their look at Top of the Rock.

Capturing these moments on film gives the most nostalgic feel! It almost feels like being transported to another time period.
