Long Island Prosser Pines Nature Preserve Maternity Photoshoot

This sweet soon to be girl mom booked me for her maternity session, and it was a beautiful day! We headed to Prosser Pines and I captured her true beauty and glow, surrounded by the beauty of the pines.

There is truly something so special about working with clients as their families grow, and I am so fortunate and grateful for this job that allows me to connect with the sweetest people.

Prosser Pines Maternity Shoot

William Dayton planted the first white pines in 1812 on his family farm in Middle Island, New York. In 1889, the farm was sold to George Prosser, who continued to care for the Pines. It is now the last white pine forest on Long Island!

Suffolk County purchased the land from George Prosser in 1967, and dedicated the property as the Prosser Pines Nature Preserve for us to all enjoy.

Today Prosser Pines is a unique forest. When you enter the pines, the outside world seems soooo far away.

As a Long Island photographer, I shoot at tons of different locations, but Prosser Pines will always be a favorite.

Prosser Pines, located in Middle Island, NY, holds a rich history and serves as a testament to the resilience of nature. Originally settled by the European in the 17th century, this land eventually became part of the sprawling pine barrens stretching across Long Island. Prosser Pines is home to a majestic stand of white pine trees, which have thrived in the region for centuries. White pine forests, known for their tall, straight trunks and vibrant foliage, played a significant role in shaping North America's history. They provided valuable timber for shipbuilding during the colonial era and were highly prized by early settlers for their versatility and strength. Today, Prosser Pines stands as a living reminder of Long Island's natural heritage and the enduring beauty of white pine forests. Visitors can explore its winding trails, taking in the serenity and grandeur of this unique ecosystem.

White pine forests are a true testament to the mesmerizing beauty of Mother Nature. The majestic pines stand tall and proud, their slender trunks reaching towards the sky. As sunlight filters through the dense canopy, it creates a soft, ethereal glow, illuminating the forest floor below. The air is laden with a refreshing scent, a sweet blend of pine needles and earth. Walking through these serene woodlands, one can't help but feel a sense of peace and tranquility. It's as if time slows down, allowing us to appreciate every intricate detail, from the delicate texture of the pine needles to the hushed stillness broken only by the occasional melodious chirping of birds. The sheer simplicity and understated elegance of white pine forests never cease to inspire awe, reminding us of the profound beauty that can be found in the natural world.
