NYC Elopement at Bethesda Terrace in Central Park + Grand Central Terminal

β€œBryan and I have been together since 2015 but have known each other since 2005. We are both born and raised in Los Angeles. For our big day, we want to elope in New York City just the two of us.”

Lisset & Bryan flew all the way from California to elope in NYC and I had the honor of capturing it! For their elopement, we started off at Bethesda Terrace, where they said their vows and made it official, then we made stops at the iconic New York Public Library & Grand Central Terminal! As a New York City elopement photographer, I love to explore the many stunning locations that NYC has to offer.

Eloping in Central Park, NYC, offers couples a sense of intimacy and romance against the picturesque backdrop of one of the most iconic parks in the world. With its lush greenery, stunning city views, and various scenic spots like Bow Bridge and Bethesda Terrace, Central Park provides the perfect setting for a private and meaningful ceremony. Whether exchanging vows under the shade of towering trees or by the shimmering waters of the lake, eloping in Central Park allows couples to focus on each other without distractions, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Bethesda Terrace, located in Central Park in New York City, has a rich history dating back to its completion in the mid-1860s. Designed by architect Jacob Wrey Mould and sculptor Emma Stebbins, the terrace quickly became a focal point of the park due to its stunning views and intricate design. The highlight of the terrace is the Bethesda Fountain, featuring the Angel of the Waters statue designed by Stebbins. Over the years, Bethesda Terrace has served as a gathering place for visitors to relax, enjoy the scenery, and appreciate the architectural beauty of one of Central Park's most iconic landmarks.

There are so many stunning places to elope in NYC. Central Park is a popular choice, offering picturesque gardens, iconic bridges, and stunning city views. The Brooklyn Bridge provides a romantic backdrop with its sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline. The High Line, an elevated park on Manhattan's West Side, offers a unique urban setting with lovely greenery and art installations. For a chic and modern vibe, consider eloping at one of the trendy rooftop bars that boast panoramic views of the city. Lastly, the waterfront in DUMBO, Brooklyn, with its cobblestone streets and unbeatable vistas of the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan skyline, is a charming location for an intimate elopement ceremony.

The New York Public Library, one of the most iconic libraries in the world, has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1895. Designed by architects Carrère and Hastings, the library's Beaux-Arts architecture is a sight to behold with its grand marble façade and majestic lions guarding the entrance. Located on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, the library's interior is just as impressive with its vast reading rooms, intricate woodwork, and stunning murals. The building's Rose Main Reading Room is an architectural masterpiece, spanning nearly two city blocks with its soaring ceilings and rows of oak tables. Beyond its architectural splendor, the New York Public Library houses millions of books, manuscripts, and historical artifacts, making it a treasure trove for scholars and book lovers alike.

Grand Central Terminal, one of the most iconic transportation hubs in New York City, boasts a rich history of stunning scenery within and surrounding its walls. Since its opening in 1913, the terminal has undergone several renovations to maintain its grandeur while preserving its historic charm. The Beaux-Arts architecture, characterized by grand staircases, arched windows, and a famous celestial ceiling in the main concourse, provides a picturesque backdrop for the bustling crowds of commuters. Outside, the terminal overlooks the beautiful Pershing Square Plaza, a popular gathering spot offering views of the surrounding skyscrapers and city life. Over the years, Grand Central Terminal has become not only a crucial transportation hub but also a beloved cultural landmark appreciated for its timeless beauty and captivating scenery.

Documentary style photography is characterized by capturing candid and unposed moments in a natural and unobtrusive way. For your elopement, this approach would involve the photographer blending into the background to capture genuine emotions, interactions, and the unique story of your special day as it unfolds. By focusing on the authentic moments and details, documentary style photography can create a compelling visual narrative that truly reflects the intimacy and spontaneity of your elopement experience.
