Where To Elope In North Florida - Jacksonville Elopement Photographer

Guide to Eloping in Florida

Eloping in Florida is becoming more and more popular as modern couples choose to forego the big wedding in order to have something more intimate. Many people hear the word “elope” and think of NYC, Vegas, or somewhere in the mountains - but the truth is you can elope anywhere! That means, yes, you can elope right in your home state of Florida!

Florida is a big place with so many incredible places to elope - so I’ll be breaking it down for you by different parts of the state. Today, let’s talk about some of my top picks for eloping in North Florida, as a Florida elopement photographer.

Elope in Florida

ST. AUGUSTINE

St. Augustine, Florida is a city steeped in history. Founded in 1565 by the Spanish, it is the oldest continuously inhabited European-established settlement in the continental United States. Couples come from all over the world to enjoy this history-rich city and tie the knot. From the cobblestone streets and brick buildings of the historic district to the sun-kissed shores of the nearby beaches, St. Augustine provides a perfect, romantic backdrop for a your Florida elopement.

If you’re eloping in St. Augustine, I recommend making it into a bit of an experience! Stay the night or weekend so you can explore the city as well and be prepared and not have to travel the morning of your elopement.

Where to Stay:

Casa De Solana (left) & Casa Monica (right)

Casa Monica is also an incredible place to take your portraits after your elopement!

Next up is for those who want more of an urban setting for their elopement! Jacksonville is a large city in Northeast Florida. There is no shortage of things to do or places to see in Jacksonville, making it a great place for your elopement. The city lights at night can provide you with the perfect, dreamy backdrop for portraits.

JACKSONVILLE

Your actual elopement ceremony can take place at Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens. You can find their photography policy here! A 90 minute session permit costs $250.

Cummer Museum would make an insanely gorgeous backdrop for saying your vows.

Next, up: grab drinks after your elopement! My personal recommendations for restaraunts that would photograph well in the area are Dos Gatos & The Volstead.

Alpine Groves Park is an insanely beautiful park in St Johns County.

ALPINE GROVES PARK

Located between the St. Johns River and William Bartram Scenic and Historic Highway. Alpine Groves park is a stunning park defined by majestic canopy oak trees that overhang the road along the St. Johns River's eastern shoreline. The park entrance is the first driveway south of Swiss Lane on the riverside of the highway.

If you would like to elope at Alpine Groves Park, I highly recommend doing so around sunset.
