Brooklyn Heights Promenade Engagement Shoot

Brooklyn Heights Engagement Shoot

“My fiancé Charles and I are currently living in Carroll Gardens and got engaged this past December in my hometown in the Bay Area. We are planning to get married in San Francisco, Califiornia - but really want our engagement photos to reflect our lives here in Brooklyn. Charles and I met in college in Boston, and moved here for Charles to go to medical school and now his residency. I am a nurse and moved here to be with him right before COVID hit and have loved experiencing NYC coming back to life.”

Brooklyn Heights is a charming neighborhood, known for its tree-lined streets, stunning brownstones, and breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline. It is truly the perfect backdrop for your NYC engagement photos. I had the privilege of capturing Devon & Charles' Brooklyn Heights engagement shoot, where we made stops at Bohemien Bar and took a leisurely stroll through the streets of Brooklyn. And only a short walk from beautiful views of the NYC skyline! I highly recommend having your engagement shoot in Brooklyn Heights. As a NYC engagement photographer, I can help you scout out all of the best spots as well as find gorgeous bars for you to get drinks inside.

The History of Brooklyn Heights

Brooklyn Heights holds a rich history that adds to its charm and appeal as a location for engagement photos. Dating back to the early 19th century, this neighborhood became one of the first suburbs in Brooklyn, known for its elegant row houses and stunning architecture. The iconic brownstones that line the streets are a testament to the neighborhood's historic roots and timeless elegance.

Brooklyn Heights has always been a hub for culture and creativity, attracting artists, writers, and musicians over the years. It is a neighborhood that truly embodies the spirit of New York City.

Date Night at Your Favorite Bar

Picture this: you and your partner, sitting at a cozy bar in Brooklyn Heights, sipping on your favorite drink, surrounded by the warm ambiance of the dimly lit room. The sound of laughter and conversation fills the air as you both enjoy each other's company. It is truly the perfect setting for your engagement photos if you want to capture those intimate, candid moments.

When planning your engagement shoot, it's important to choose locations that reflect your unique love story. Brooklyn Heights offers a plethora of charming bars that will set the stage for a romantic and intimate photoshoot.

While you and your partner sip cocktails (or mocktails!) at your favorite bar, I discreetly capture candid shots of you two enjoying each other's company. These moments that perfectly represent you in your current stage of life will be preserved perfectly.

Devon & Charles chose Bohemien Bar for their engagement shoot. This location was special to them as they frequent it as one of their favorite date night locations. With cozy booths and a window full of natural light, it truly is a perfect spot for your engagement photos.

Brooklyn Heights Brownstones

Next stop: the stunning brownstones that line the streets of this charming neighborhood. The brownstones in Brooklyn Heights are not just beautiful houses; they are a symbol of the rich history and timeless elegance that Brooklyn exudes. Did you know that brownstones became popular in New York City during the 19th century as row house developers chose them as their preferred stone facing material? Despite their name, brownstones are actually brick houses with a distinctive stone exterior. The timeless architecture of Brooklyn Heights makes it an iconic and stunning choice for your engagement photos. Imagine walking hand in hand with your partner along the tree-lined streets, surrounded by these historic brownstones? Absolutely stunning!

Ending the Night With NYC Views

We ended out shoot at the Brooklyn Bridge Piers, taking in the incredible view of the NYC skyline.

The view from the Brooklyn Heights Promenade is nothing short of awe-inspiring. As you gaze across the East River, you can see iconic landmarks like the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, and the Brooklyn Bridge. The beauty and grandeur of New York City are on full display, and you can't help but feel a sense of wonder and excitement as you take it all in.

Brooklyn Heights truly offers a one-of-a-kind setting for your engagement photoshoot. From the intimate bar scenes to the historic brownstones and the stunning views of the Manhattan skyline, this neighborhood has it all. With the right Brooklyn engagement photographer by your side, your love story will come to life in a way that is both timeless and personalized to you.

As you stroll along the tree-lined streets, the elegant architecture of these historic buildings captures your attention. The rows of impeccably maintained brownstones, with their distinctive façades and stoops adorned with blossoming flowers, create a truly captivating sight. The warm, earthy hues of the brick exteriors blend harmoniously with the lush greenery that surrounds them, enhancing the neighborhood's charm. Each brownstone tells a unique story, with ornate details and carefully crafted designs that showcase the rich history and character of this iconic Brooklyn neighborhood. Whether bathed in the golden light of morning or illuminated by the soft glow of twilight, the scenery of the brownstones in Brooklyn Heights is a timeless and enchanting display of architectural beauty.
